Rail Coordinator

Description

KC Engineering and Land Surveying, P.C., a multi-disciplined consulting engineering firm, is seeking a candidate for a Rail Coordinator in our New York City office. This is a full-time position.

The potential candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:
Experience/Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering or related fields is required.
• Minimum 10 years, but preferably 15 years demonstrated experience in managing matters related to facilitating construction in locations in close proximity to an operating commuter railroad environment.
• Experience with coordination of railroad Engineering disciplines, labor forces including protection (flagging).
• Possess working knowledge of NYSDOT regulations and specifications, including agency regulations and project-related procedures.
• Possess working knowledge of railroad operations and FRA and FTA rules governing operations and safety of railroads.
• Previous experience on past Amtrak projects is preferred.
• Experience working directly on projects that involve Amtrak/CSX access plan approval process and shall have comprehensive knowledge relating to their policies, rules, regulations, design standards, and practices.
• Experience coordinating with adjacent projects in order to schedule the construction activities while utilizing the available force account resources and track outage windows initiated by others within the same active railroad corridor is preferred.
• Effective oral, written, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Must have New York State Driver’s License.
• OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Course certified.
• New York State Professional Engineer License required.

The responsibilities of this position are as follows:
The primary work location is at the KC New York City office. Successful candidates may be required to provide support to other KC offices on an as needed basis.

• Coordinate railroad Engineering disciplines, labor forces including protection (flagging).
• Coordinate with adjacent projects in order to schedule the construction activities while utilizing the available force account resources and track outage windows initiated by others within the same active railroad corridor.
• Shall dedicate no less than 100% of the work time required to plan, monitor, coordinate, and construct at locations relative to Amtrak/CSX/MTA Design Builder associated with this project until all railroad coordination and field work has been completed.
• Be able to perform work independently.

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $150,000 - $175,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
